Town Charter - 2023

The Proposed Charter

In 2022 the Coalition For A Better Salem (CFBS) successfully advocated for the adoption of the new Town Charter which was passed by the Town of Salem on March 14, 2023. Below is the original information provided by CFBS for the benefit of future generations as they continue to to support our great town. CFBS is grateful for the efforts of the Charter Commission for their efforts. 

Members of the Charter Commission in 2023 were: Bernie W. Campbell (Chair), Joseph Sweeney (Vice Chair), Bonnie Wright (Secretary), D.J. Bettencourt, Kevin Breen, Joseph R. Feole, John Janigian, Donna Loranger, and Kelly Moss. 

On December 12, 2022, the Charter Commission adopted its final report regarding the Charter Draft that was written this summer. The Charter Draft has been approved by the NH Attorney General and will appear on the ballot in March.
