When Do I Vote?
Municipal Elections take place every year on the second Tuesday in March. This is when you will vote on all local offices: Selectmen, Budget Committee, School Board, Planning Board, Zoning Board and all the rest.
Special Elections are held when called by the Selectmen, usually to fill a vacancy, or for a Charter Commission.
State Primary Elections are held every other year in even numbered years on the second Tuesday in September. This is when each party holds it primary to select nominees for Congress, Senate and Governor, as well a state senate, state representatives, executive council and county offices.
State/Federal Elections are held every other year in even numbered years on the first Tuesday (after the first Monday) in November. This is when we elect all our state legislators, US Congresspeople, Senators, and the Governor.
Presidential Primaries are held every four years in either January or February. This date moves, based on when other states schedule their primary, because New Hampshire always has to have the first primary.
Presidential Elections are held every four years in on the first Tuesday (after the first Monday) in November.
What is Deliberative Session? What is it?
Deliberative session is the first part of our Town Meeting process. It is the meeting where the Town presents the budget and all the warrant articles to the voters. The voters in attendance at the meeting can debate or amend the articles before they go onto the ballot for the town to vote on. (Some articles can't be amended, though.). This is usually held in the first or second week of February on a Saturday morning.
